Road Work
The Town of Big Flats is oil/stoning Honeysuckle, Vanderhoff and Northcrest Roads on Friday July 30. Please be aware there will be loose stone on these roads for 1 - 2 weeks after this is done. The loose stone will be cleaned up after the road surface has stabilized.

NOTICE OF FILING COMPLETED ASSESSMENT ROLL WITH CLERK AFTER GRIEVANCE DAY
(Pursuant to Section 516 of the Real Property Tax Law)
Notice is hereby given that the Final Assessment Roll for the Town of Big Flats,
in the County of Chemung, for the year 2010 has been finally completed by the
undersigned Assessor, and a certified copy thereof was filed in the office of the
Town Clerk on the First day of July, 2010, where the same will remain open to public inspection until October 1, 2010.

Chemung County - Elmira Road Maintenance
The Chemung County-City of Elmira DPW, in conjunction with its contractor, announces that over 7 miles of roads will be slurry sealed over the next few weeks, weather permitting. Slurry seal is a mixture of emulsified asphalt oil, rock, water, and additives such as aluminum sulfate, Portland cement, latex or other materials. The cost-effective process extends the life of roadways by filling cracks and voids, sealing the surface weather-tight, and providing a friction surface to improve traction on the road.

• College Avenue (Woodlawn Ave to W. Thurston St)
• Woodlawn Avenue (Clemens Center Parkway to College Ave)

Farmers Market Starts Tuesday, June 8th
Hooray!!! There will be a Farmers Market this year at the Big Flats Community Center. The Market will be open on Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. So come over and have lunch and shop the fresh produce. You are welcome to eat your lunch on the garden patio under the umbrellas! School is out so please watch carefully for children on their bikes or playing. The Highway Department has started the paving season. Canal Street is done. Winters Road will be done soon. Remember the Summer Market at the Community Center on Tuesdays. .. ..
